Death's Story
The storybook was interesting and different, focusing on the point of view of Death as opposed to showing the story through the eyes of those Death was taking.  The title did a good job of portraying that the story would be told in Death's voice.  However, I expected the stories within the storybook to include tales from several places as opposed to focusing on a particular region since the title is so broad.  The introduction lacked the same attention on the other stories while it focused strongly on the story of The Hardest One.  The unequal attention does make sense, since the final story is the most important to Death.  However, it would have made the other stories less confusing to explain them with more detail within the introduction.

Real Housewives of Greek Mythology

This storybook was my favorite, because it took the stories of Greek mythology and applied them to something that is extremely modern.  I also enjoyed the Real Housewives of Greek Mythology because it focused on the goddesses, which is different from the actual myths that tend to revolve around the male Gods and men.  It was fun and intriguing to receive the stories in a fashion that celebrated and highlighted the personalities of the Goddesses.  The design was interesting, since it was in script format, and I found it fun to read.  I liked the way in which the photos and text were set up.

The storybook had the best design, which allowed the storybook to look appealing and be more approachable in reading.  I liked how the author used transitions at the end of each story so that they were able to feed into each other.  The rhythm and movement of the storybook from each life to the next mimicked the title's insinuation that, as we read the story, we are "falling through the generations."

  1. I am so glad you looked at Real Housewives of Greek Mythology, Lauren: that was such a great project, and the student had taken a screenwriting class, which is how she knew about the software to use for creating an authentic screenplay style. If you want to use this class as a way to play around with that, or any other kind of writing style that would be new to you, that is exactly the idea: no stress, no pressure... just a chance to imagine and explore! :-)
